Once upon a time...
2015
Sushi is our origin story. Back in highschool, we first met at 'Peekaboo Sushi' thanks to our dear friend Bee.
2016
We both got back from travelling separetly. Less than 12 hours after Ella landed in Canada, Jason asked her to hang out for the very first time. He picked Ella up in his trusty Nissan Sentra, and they got photos taken with Santa.
Early 2017
We officially started dating... kinda? We never really had an official "we're dating" moment, but we've always said it was around this time.
Mid 2017
What's the best way to test a new relationship? Go backpacking in a foreign country together obviously. Ella, Jason, Bee, and Spencer headed south and travelled Bolivia and Peru.
Still Mid 2017
Jason just couldn't stay away. Ella kept travelling, and the moment Jason landed back home, he bought a one-way flight to meet her in Greece — 73 days later.
The Rest of 2017
We spent these months travelling through Greece and Indonesia, chasing rays, swimming every day, and frolicking about.
2018 – 2019
After our adventures, we settled into some routine back home. We spent these years learning how to live with each other, and what it meant to be adults. We started school, built our hobbies, and played in the outdoors.
2020
COVID! Gross. But we took it as a chance to explore closer to home. We bought our home on wheels, Dora, and travelled around BC and Alberta hiking, climbing, exploring, and being dirtbags.
2021
We moved out on our own! Our first place on 11th and Fir. It was a step above a dreary dungeon, but it was ours, and we loved that basement suite with all our hearts.
2022 – 2024
Life continued to happen. We travelled, finished school, started our careers, made friends, and kept frolicking.
September 23rd, 2025
We got engaged!!!
One summer, Jason went away on a boys trip to the island. On that trip, he talked to Adi about how he was going to start hunting for a ring and propose to Ella. Little did he know, Ella was having that exact conversation with her best friend at the same time!
Ella spoke to her mom, Leslie, and started planning the ring with her very talented Aunt Terena who makes amazing pieces of jewelry. Jason naturally reached out to Leslie and filled her in on his big plans, who very quickly instructed him to phone Aunt Terena that same day and get her up to speed. Over the following month, we both went to Terena separately, gathered our family gold and diamonds, and individually designed our rings for one another. Because Terena and Leslie were the epicenter of this juicy secret, they did an amazing job at dictating who knew what and how best to feed suggestions to both of us.
Our plans were simple. We knew we were going on a wicked camping trip with some of our best friends, Kai and Abby, up to northern Vancouver island. The logistics were funny, and the coordination was nothing short of a miracle thanks to all those who helped.
And on September 23rd, 2025, on San Josef beach in Cape Scott, after 9 years together, we both proposed to each other at the same time, at the same beach, with rings made of the same gold.
July 10, 2027
We're getting married! To celebrate 10 years together, we're getting hitched on the 10th of July, 2027.
